His Heart Is In It!

So on Saturday I dropped Ry Guy off at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 10 days with the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. It's actually an amazing opportunity to learn about a potential career in medicine and meet students from other parts of the country with similar interests. But, I wasn't really sure if his heart was in it, 'cause it's a big chunk to take out of his summer which is already full of other obligations.

At the heart of the matter, he says his suite mates are all really cool, they found the best pizza he's ever eaten, and so far the forums have been fun. Plus, they already observed a heart catheterization at Wake Forest University:

And then my heart was full when I received this text:
'Cause I know my boy's heart is in the right place!

  1. Now those are really good odds!
That's a cool opportunity. Getting some real experience lets kids know if the medical field is right for them.

  6. Good for him! Reminds me of taking Shakespeare in high school--2 guys and 20 girls.

  7. So very cute!!! My daughter's first job out of college was in a cath lab. As I sat up in the viewer gallery watching her one day doing something with a pace maker on someone (I have no idea what was going on as I am clueless) I was so proud of her. I love that your son is getting this opportunity to see how it all works.

Still isn't it nice that he has made time to notice some important dynamics to this learning experience. Work hard, play hard.

  11. I have our boys, so I know exactly how important the pizza and the girl/guy group ratio is.

I had to pop over from the Beer guys' blog. I aw you're married to a WV redneck, so hi from sunny, but always with a chance of grey skies WV where my husband has also loaded every closet with gun vaults and shotguns are typical gifts.
