Weekend Wisecrack

The U.S. Postal Service will cease delivering mail on Saturdays. Guess whoever came up with the saying, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds", never heard of email.

  1. Never knew they even did deliveries on saturday down there, they haven't done them up here ever as far as I know. What is that email thing again?

  4. I'm surprised it took them this long. Expect rural post offices to vanish and hours at urban ones trim down. They've had budget problems ever since some pro-privatization congressman decided to make them pay for decades of retirement pay for their employees in a stupidly short time limit. Ben Franklin (he created the post office) wouldn't be too pleased.

  5. I can't remember the last time I received mail that I didn't immediately toss in the garbage.

  6. Even though this will save money, it still won't offset the loss in revenue they experienced last year (by a long shot). They really should consider shutting down unnecessary/redundant post offices. For example, there are FOUR offices with a few miles of my house. But, that would mean a loss of jobs. Someone's going to go postal over that (I can't possibly be the first person to think of that line).
    Still, no Saturday deliveries....
Guess I'll have to wait until Monday for my porn catalogs.
Although, I bet I can find a lot of that kinda stuff on the internet.

  7. Yay!!! I can't believe anyone is against this but there are plenty of naysayers. I consider it a bonus day that I won't get a bunch of junk. Al Penwasser is right about it not covering the massive losses (or that he has to wait another couple of days on his porn) but they have to start making cuts somewhere. They are bleeding money.

  8. Ben Franklin has probably been rolling in his grave in agitation for a long time over the post office.

  9. I'm only bummed because I have Netflix, and they don't "Stream" much of the good stuff.
