In one of my Dad's lucid intervals from his hospital bed, he said one of his funniest lines to date, "if anyone wants to see what shit looks like, have them come visit me".
I think that's a fantastic line! If I ever end up in the hospital again (I was in twice before: once for a appendectomy and the other for-YIKES!-hemorrhoids), I hope I can keep my sense of humor (they didn't let me keep my appendix or hemorrhoids...and I was pretty good with that).
Glad his sense of humor is still prevailing. One of the funniest, and worst things, that ever happened with my Grandmother when she was in for her last and final trip to the hospital: she woke up and we were all standing around her and music was playing and the first thing she said was "Is this my funeral??'! It was funny and awful at the same time...
I guess he made it through the surgery, huh? I sort of stumbled onto your blog in the middle of your ordeal and I'm here to stay. I have some backreading to do.
what a tempting offer LOL
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of what shit looks like every time I look in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. lol
ReplyDeleteWas he medicated at the time he said that??? Bet that cuts down on the number of visitors he will get today. (but it was a funny line)
ReplyDeleteToo funny - even though I'm sorry he feels that way.
ReplyDeleteAnd so we find the origins of your sense of humor... I'm sure that line was much appreciated in the hospital room.
ReplyDeletelol sure that will bring in the visitors, or maybe they;ll just send a card

ReplyDeleteat least he has his humor
ReplyDeleteLol! Your Dad is a riot :D The few times I've found myself in a hospital bed, I also felt like shit - so he's right on.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's possible for anyone to look good in a hospital bed, no matter how minor or major the reason for being there.
